About ARQ Roofing

ARQ Roofing has served the Greater Portland area for over 8 years. We started as partners who renovated our own investment properties and worked for one of the big roofing companies, gaining experience on both sides of the trade. As property investors, we learned what a quality roof should cost to maximize long-term value, and from the inside, we saw firsthand how the big companies pad their prices. That's what brought us together to start ARQ: to do it the right way, with upfront pricing.

We know you'll get the best value for your roof with us, which is why, while others hide their pricing, we make ours as easy as possible with our online roof replacement estimator and free on-site roof inspection. Try the estimator or give us a call, satisfaction guaranteed.

Common Questions

How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential roof replacements take about three days from start to finish, including tear-off, installation, and full cleanup. Steep, complex, or cedar-shake roofs can take longer. We put a specific timeline in writing before we start, so you know exactly what to expect.
Does the estimate include tear-off, disposal, and clean-up?
Yes. Our written quotes include tear-off of your existing roof, disposal fees, new underlayment, flashing replacement where needed, permit fees, and full site cleanup. We don't add line-item surprises at the end. If we find rotted decking during tear-off (common in older PNW homes), we'll show you the damage and give you a firm number before replacing it.
How does your price estimate compare to what I'll actually pay?
Our online estimate is a good faith range based on standard materials and what we can measure of your roof from satellite imagery. Most homes fall within this range. A few things we can't always see from above can push the final cost higher: complicated or hidden roof sections, rot or damage under the roof, or a detached garage, shop, or studio. We account for all of it and give you a confirmed quote at your free on-site inspection. If a roof is too complex or unclear to measure reliably from satellite, we skip the online number and confirm everything in person.
What warranty comes with my new roof?
Every roof we install is backed by our 2-year workmanship warranty, which covers the quality of our installation and labor. Your roofing materials carry a separate manufacturer's warranty that depends on the product you choose, generally 30 to 50 years. We hand you both in writing when the job is done.
Will moss grow back after my new roof is installed?
It can. Moss thrives in the Pacific Northwest's shade and moisture. The best defense is choosing an algae-resistant shingle (like Malarkey's AR line, made right here in Portland) or zinc/copper ridge strips that slow regrowth. We'll recommend the right product for your roof's shading and pitch during your free inspection. Metal roofs have virtually zero moss growth risk.
What happens if it rains during my roof installation?
We watch forecasts carefully and won't expose your deck to rain risk. If weather surprises us mid-job, we have tarps and can secure the deck overnight if needed. We won't leave your home unprotected. Scheduling between May and early October gives us the best installation window. Asphalt adhesive needs temperatures above roughly 40°F to seal properly.
How long will my new roof last in the Pacific Northwest?
A quality architectural shingle roof here lasts 25–30 years with good ventilation and basic maintenance. PNW moss can shorten that by 5–10 years if left untreated. Metal roofs routinely last 50+ years. We'll recommend the right material for your roof and how long you plan to stay.
